HAVENS

Lower Class Neighborhoods
Lower Class Neighborhoods represent the small underdeveloped villages and areas of big cities that have been forgotten. Most Hawaiians would like to believe these areas do not exist, and for the most part they are well hidden lumps of excrement in an otherwise flawless paradise.

Lower-Middle Class Neighborhoods
Lower-Middle Class Neighborhoods do exist in Hawaii, contrary to popular belief. Among the pristine beaches and vacation resorts exists a local economy thriving with bars, mechanic shops, and a plethora of other manual labor types of businesses that support the underprivileged working class.

Middle Class Neighborhoods
Middle Class Neighborhoods are your run of the mill "blue-collar" areas, but like any other place. The residents of middle class neighborhoods have just enough that they often don't "need" for anything in particular, and can get away to the beach every once in a while.

Middle-Upper Class Neighborhoods
Middle-Upper Class Neighborhoods are typically not actually neighborhoods at all. Often, they are resorts, hotels and other tourist traps that prey on the never ending stream of visitors to the islands.

Upper Class Neighborhoods
Upper Class Neighborhoods are the gated communities and original estates that are scattered across the islands. It takes true wealth to own a piece of property in these areas, and your neighbors are likely to be world famous: Oprah, Donald Trump, or some other CEO who uses Hawaii as a place to De-stress.

Haven Accessories
Security is something few people consider trivial in a vacation locale such as Maui. Even the most primitive of residences boast some form of protection, especially if the home has something of value to steal.

Businesses
Businesses are a very tricky thing, especially in the World of Darkness; and even more difficult if the owner/operator is a Kindred who is supposed to not exist to the world. There are several steps that must be followed in order for an individual to create a business in Dark Realms RPG that will allow them to gain a permanent monthly expense bonus.

A Character may only own as many Businesses equal to their Permanent Willpower regardless of the size of the Businesses.
  1. A HAVEN must be purchased.
    • In Dark Realms RPG only "brick & mortal" businesses are allowed, sorry all you tech savvy Kindred who'd like to make a buck over the internet.
    • You are allowed to purchase whatever "size" haven you would like to, however your business size is limited by the size of your Haven. So a Haven Size ●●●● can be the location of a Business ●●●● or any smaller business but cannot be the location of a Business ●●●●●.
    • If the Haven Size and Business Size are equal you MAY NOT use the Haven as a residence for your Character in addition to the Business. All Characters will require 1 "empty" Haven Size to reside in.
  2. You must spend Downtime Actions/Expenses in any combination equal to the level of your business for start-up costs/efforts. These may be combined with other Characters not of your own.
    • Business ●: 3 Downtime Actions or Expenses
    • Business ●●: 5 Downtime Actions or Expenses
    • Business ●●●: 9 Downtime Actions or Expenses
    • Business ●●●●: 15 Downtime Actions or Expenses
    • Business ●●●●●: 23 Downtime Actions or Expenses
    • Each individual levels' requirements must be purchased all at once. You may not divide the cost of your Downtime Actions across several weeks nor may you divide the cost of your Expenses across several months.
  3. Your Businesses will add an additional Monthly Expense Allocation to your normal Expenses equal to the level of the Business.
    • A Business ● will permanently give you a +1 Bonus to your Monthly Expense Allocation whereas a Business ●●●●● will permanently give you a +5 Bonus.
    • Business is also all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Each "neighborhood" will also add a Location Bonus to your Business that will also provide a Monthly Expense Allocation Bonus
      • Lower Class Neighborhoods provide + 0
      • Lower-Middle Class Neighborhoods provide + 1
      • Middle Class Neighborhoods provide + 2
      • Middle-Upper Class Neighborhoods provide + 3
      • Upper Class Neighborhoods provide + 4
    • For example: if you have a Business ●●● that is located in a Lower-Middle Class Neighborhood you would receive a + 3 Expense Bonus from your Business but would also receive a + 1 Expense Bonus because of the Lower-Middle Class Neighborhood location that your Business is in. You would receive a total + 4 Expense Bonus each month because of this one Business.
    • Another example: however, if you have a Business ●●●● that is located in an Upper Class Neighborhood you would receive a + 4 Expense Bonus from your Business but would also receive a + 4 Expense bonus because of the Upper Class Neighborhood location that your Business is in. You would receive a total + 8 Expense Bonus each month because of this one Business.
  4. The Haven and The Business are not required to be owned by the same Character, however only ONE Character will have ownership of the Business (it will reside on their sheet) and it will be that Character that receives the Monthly Expense Bonus. The only way for TWO Characters to "partner" together in a business if for the Haven Size to be large enough that the two characters can both own a Business within it. For example, John purchases a Haven Size ●●●●. John then also purchases Business ●● but allows his partner Matt to also purchase Business ●●. Both businesses are housed in the same Haven, both Characters receive the Monthly Expense Bonus from their INDIVIDUAL Businesses, and both benefit from the Neighborhood Bonus if applicable.
